Forts Rajasthan FortsAmber fort is one of the principal tourist
attraction in jaipur area,located on the hill. Amber fort (which is pronounced
as amer fort) is known for its artistic style, blending both Hindu and Mughal
elements. The fort with its large ramparts, series of gates and cobbled paths,
overlooks the Maota Lake, at its forefront.The palace was lived in by the Rajput
Maharajas and their families.This fort alongs with Jaigarh fort situated
on Cheel ka Teela (hills of eagles)of same Aravalli ranges of hills.The fort,
rugged and similar in structural design to the Amber Fort , is also known as Victory
Fort.Junagarh Fort is one of the most splendid fort complex. It's bewitchinly
decorated interiors are in an meritorious state . Built in 1588 by Raja Rai Singh,
it is one of the few major forts, which were not built on a hilltop.
The
complex consists of palaces, courtyards, pavilions, and balconies. The walls
are decked with carved stones, marble, paintings, and inlaid semi-precious stones.
Each palace in the complex was built by a different ruler, over the centuries. Nahagarh
Fort stands on the edge of the Aravalli Hills, overlooking the pink city of Jaipur
in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The view of the city from the fort is breath
taking.
Along with Amber Fort and Jaigarh Fort it formed a strong defence
ring for the city. The word Nahargarh means the abode of tigers. Legends say
that it was named after Prince Nahar whose spirit haunted the place and obstructed
construction of the fort.
Built mainly in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh
II, it is partially in ruins. It was extended in 1868. The rooms are linked by
corridors and still have some delicate frescos. There are nine apartments for
the nine queens the Maharaja had and all are well planned and decorated.
Nahargarh
is also called the hunting residence of Maharajas.Kumbhalgarh is also a
birthplace of Maharana Pratap, the great king and warrior of Mewar.It is the most
important fort in Mewar after Chittaurgarh.According to the folklore,Maharana
kumbha used to burn massive lamps that utilize fifty kilograms of ghee to serve
light for the farmers who works during the nights in the valley.Chittorgarh
Fort is the largest fort in India and the grandest in the state of Rajasthan
.
The fort, plainly known as Chittor, was the capital of Mewar .It was
ruled initially by Guhilot and later by Sisodias, the Suryavanshi clans of Chattari
Rajputs, from 7th century, until it was finally abandoned in 1568 after the siege
by Emperor Akbar in 1567. It sprawls majestically over a hill 180 m (590.6 ft)
in height spread over an area of 280 height (691.9 acres) above the plains of
the valley drained by the Berach River. The fort precinct with an evocative history
is studded with a series of historical palaces, gates, temples and two prominent
commemoration towers. These monumental ruins have inspired the imagination of
tourists and writers for centuries. the fort represents the quintessence of tribute
to the nationalism, courage, medieval chivalry. Kishangarh Fort ,the state
took its name from kishan singh,a prince of jodhpur,who with his astuteness and
erudition seized this area place .
Jaisalmer Fort is one of the
largest fort in the world. This Fort will immediately appeals to your eyes. Made
of sand stones and locally known as Sonar Quila, the Jaisalmer Fort is a dominating
structure amidst sands.Th city is said to be founded by Raja Rawal Jaiswal, a
Bhatti Rajput ruler ,All these forts and palaces proves the journey worth watching.
